ACE Sahiwal Arrests Senior Clerk Red-Handed for Accepting Bribe

SAHIWAL: In a major crackdown against institutional malpractice, the Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) Sahiwal arrested a senior clerk of a Union Council for accepting a bribe. The operation was carried out today, January 10, 2026, as part of the “Corruption-Free Punjab” vision led by Director General ACE Punjab, Sohail Zafar Chattha.
Details of the Operation:
Acting on the special directives of Regional Director ACE Sahiwal, Basharat Nabi, a team led by Inspector Headquarters Suhaib Qaisar conducted a successful raid. The operation was supervised by a Civil Magistrate to ensure legal transparency.
The suspect, identified as Mahmood, a Senior Clerk at Union Council Murad Ke Kathia in Chichawatni, District Sahiwal, was caught red-handed while receiving a bribe of Rs. 10,000.
Background of the Case:
The arrest followed a complaint filed by a citizen named Riaz. According to the complainant, the clerk had demanded Rs. 10,000 in exchange for issuing his father’s death certificate. During the trap raid, the marked currency notes were recovered from the suspect’s possession on the spot.

A case has been registered at the Anti-Corruption Police Station, Sahiwal, and further investigations are currently underway to determine if other officials were involved.
