Awareness Drive in Sahiwal Highlights Women’s Protection and Anti-Violence Measures

Sahiwal (Sahiwalnews.com) — In connection with efforts to end violence against women and girls, Women Protection Officer Samira Shaheen met Samira Naseem, Principal of Government Graduate College for Women, Sahiwal.
On this occasion, she highlighted in detail the services of the Women Protection Center Sahiwal, issues related to gender-based violence, services provided at the center, the Punjab Protection of Women Against Violence Act 2016 (Amended 2021), and the effective role of the 1737 helpline.
An awareness session and a walk were also organized to support the campaign against violence toward women and girls, in which a large number of teachers and students participated. Participants in the walk also distributed pamphlets among citizens. The purpose of distributing pamphlets was to raise awareness about women’s rights, available legal protections, and the support mechanisms provided by the center.
The team of Women Protection Center Sahiwal engaged with community members, informed them about the importance of reporting violence, and encouraged them to share information within their surroundings to help create a safer environment for women.
Principal Samira Naseem also presented a souvenir shield to Women Protection Officer Samira Shaheen.
