Commissioner Sahiwal Reviews Model Bazaar Initiatives

SAHIWAL (News Desk): Commissioner Sahiwal Division, Dr. Asif Tufail, conducted an extensive visit to Sadr Bazaar and Pakpattan Bazaar to review the ongoing measures aimed at transforming them into “Model Bazaars.” During his visit, he emphasized that the cooperation of the trader community is vital for establishing a beautiful and organized urban environment.

Vision for Urban Beauty

Dr. Asif Tufail stated that in line with the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, priority steps are being taken to improve city aesthetics, sanitation, and public facilities. During the visit, Assistant Commissioner Sahiwal, Maham Wahid, provided a detailed briefing on the progress of the transformation projects.

Inspection of DHQ Hospital

Later, the Commissioner visited the Haji Abdul Qayyum District Headquarter Hospital, where he inspected various departments, including:

  • The Pharmacy and Laboratory

  • Dengue and General Wards

  • OPD and Reception Counters

He directed the hospital administration to further upgrade the sanitation system and ensure the provision of top-tier medical facilities to patients.

Taking Notice of Overcharging: While at the hospital, Dr. Asif Tufail took stern notice of public complaints regarding overcharging at the parking stand. He issued immediate directives to the relevant authorities to take strict legal action against those responsible for fleecing citizens.

Organizing the Informal Sector

The Commissioner also visited the “Rehri Bazaar” (pushcart market) located outside the General Bus Stand. He instructed Municipal Corporation officials to establish a more organized market for pushcart vendors. He noted that such a move would:

  1. Increase employment opportunities for small-scale vendors.

  2. Effectively control traffic congestion and encroachments within the city.
