Chichawatni: Citizen Injured by Armed Robbers on College Road; Motorcycle Snatched

CHICHAWATNI (Staff Reporter) – In a daring daylight robbery within the jurisdiction of City Police Station, two unidentified armed muggers shot and injured a citizen before fleeing with a motorcycle on College Road.

Details of the Incident

According to sources, the victims—identified as Hamza and Mudassir, residents of Hayatabad Colony—were returning from the Gymkhana. As they reached the TMA office, they were intercepted by two armed suspects on a motorcycle.

The robbers held the youngsters at gunpoint, snatched the keys to their Honda 125 motorcycle, and ordered them to leave the spot.

Unprovoked Firing

Despite the victims offering no resistance, the suspects opened fire while fleeing. A bullet struck Mudassir in the leg, leaving him bleeding on the road. The culprits managed to escape the scene with the snatched vehicle, leaving the injured youth behind.

Medical Aid and Investigation

  • Hospitalization: Mudassir was immediately rushed to the Tehsil Headquarters (THQ) Hospital Chichawatni, where he is currently receiving medical treatment. Doctors state his condition is stable.

  • Police Response: Upon receiving the alert, City Police arrived at the crime scene to collect evidence and recorded statements from the victims. A search operation has been launched in the surrounding areas to trace the suspects.

A Challenge for the New SHO

The incident has caused a wave of panic and insecurity among the local residents. This robbery is being viewed as a significant test for the newly appointed SHO City Chichawatni, Qamar Abbas.

Local citizens and civil society members have expressed grave concern over the rising crime rate. They have demanded that the DPO Sahiwal take immediate notice, ensure the recovery of the stolen motorcycle, and arrest the perpetrators to restore law and order in the city.
