Wife, Friend Arrested for Poisoning Man to Death in Chichawatni

Chichawatni City police have arrested a woman and her accomplice for allegedly poisoning her husband to death in the Gaoshala Mohalla area.
Background and Allegations
The victim, Abrar Aslam, a resident of Gaoshala Ward No. 17, Street No. 2, Chichawatni, married Zaib Akmal of Rahim Yar Khan two years ago. According to police reports, Zaib had been in a long-term relationship with a man identified as Ihsan Ajmal, which she continued after her marriage.
The situation turned fatal when Abrar reportedly became suspicious of the affair. Police allege that Zaib and Ihsan conspired to eliminate him. On the night of January 6, following dinner, Zaib allegedly served Abrar a soft drink laced with poison.
Suspicion and Discovery
Abrar’s health deteriorated rapidly after consuming the drink. He was rushed to the Tehsil Headquarters (THQ) Hospital, but doctors were unable to save him. At the time, medical staff expressed suspicion that poisoning was the cause of death.
Initially, Abrar’s family did not pursue legal action, believing it might be a natural occurrence. However, during the ritual bath (Ghusl) before his burial, family members noticed physical signs indicative of poisoning. The family confronted Zaib and her father, Muhammad Akmal, who had traveled from Rahim Yar Khan for the funeral.
Confession and Legal Action
On January 10, Zaib reportedly confessed to the crime during the family’s confrontation. Following the confession, the Chichawatni police were alerted.
A formal case has been registered based on the complaint of the deceased’s elder brother, Bilal Aslam. The police have booked:
Zaib Akmal (Wife)
Ihsan Ajmal (Accomplice/Friend)
One unidentified accomplice
The primary suspects are currently in custody as police continue their investigation to uncover further details of the conspiracy.
