Commissioner Sahiwal Chairs Key Board Meeting; Financial Decisions Approved

SAHIWAL (Special Representative) – A high-level meeting of the Sahiwal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) was held under the chairmanship of Commissioner Sahiwal Division, Dr. Asif Tufail. The session resulted in the approval of several critical administrative appointments, student relief measures, and legal strategies to protect the board’s interests.
Administrative Appointments and Extensions
To ensure the smooth functioning of the board’s operations, the meeting approved the temporary appointment of Assistant Commissioner General (ACG) Ghulam Hussain Bhatti as the Secretary of the Education Board. This appointment will remain effective until a permanent Secretary is posted.
Furthermore, the board granted a one-year contract extension to the board’s Sub-Engineer, Syed Qasim Ahmed Gul, acknowledging his ongoing service to the institution.
Student Relief and Academic Approvals
In a move to facilitate students for the 2025 Second Annual Examinations, the board officially approved late admissions for:
41 Matriculation students
26 Intermediate students
Legal Action and Financial Protection
The meeting addressed serious financial matters involving taxation and banking disputes:
FBR Tax Notice: The board approved the appointment of a Legal Advisor to contest a tax notice of PKR 32.5 million (3.25 crore) issued by the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR).
Banking Ombudsman Case: The board decided to move the Banking Ombudsman against Habib Bank Limited (HBL) for a loss of PKR 8.8 million (88 lakh) incurred due to non-timely payment of board funds.
Development of Service Rules
A four-member committee has been established under the leadership of ACG/Secretary Board Ghulam Hussain Bhatti to draft comprehensive Service Rules. The committee is tasked with preparing detailed recommendations for formal approval to streamline the board’s internal governance.
