Over 70,000 Families in Sahiwal Receive Relief via Nigehban Cards: Salma Butt

SAHIWAL (News Reporter) – Salma Butt, the Special Assistant to the Chief Minister of Punjab for Food Safety and Consumer Protection, has reaffirmed the provincial government’s commitment to providing maximum relief to the public during the holy month of Ramadan.

The Special Assistant shared these remarks while speaking to the media during her visit to the “Nigehban Ramadan Sahulat Bazaar” in Sahiwal. She was accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Captain (R) Samiullah Farooq and Assistant Commissioner Maham Wahid.

Key Highlights of the Nigehban Ramadan Package

During the press conference, Salma Butt highlighted the progress of the relief initiatives:

  • Financial Assistance: Over 70,000 families in the Sahiwal district have already received financial aid of Rs. 10,000 each through the Nigehban Cards.

  • Doorstep Delivery: The process of delivering these cards directly to the doorsteps of deserving citizens is being carried out at a rapid pace across the province.

  • Subsidized Commodities: Across Punjab, 75 Sahulat Bazaars are fully functional, offering essential items like flour, sugar, ghee, and pulses at rates lower than official government prices.

Community Support and Iftar Services

In line with Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s vision, the administration has also focused on providing prepared meals for those in need.

“Our goal is to ensure that quality essential goods are not only easily accessible but also remain within the financial reach of the common man,” stated Salma Butt.

Currently, 8 Nigehban Dastarkhwans have been established in the Sahiwal district, providing Iftar to approximately 3,000 fasting citizens every day.

Assessing Public Satisfaction

Prior to the press briefing, the Special Assistant conducted a detailed inspection of various stalls at the Sahulat Bazaar. She engaged directly with shoppers to gather feedback on the quality and availability of goods.

Citizens present at the market expressed their satisfaction with the Ramadan relief measures initiated by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif and commended the local district administration for the smooth arrangements.
