Tragedy in Okara: SHO Succumbs to Injuries After Being Shot by Subordinate

OKARA: In a somber turn of events, Tariq Mahmood, the Station House Officer (SHO) of Satgrah police station, passed away at a hospital on Tuesday. He had been fighting for his life after being shot by a subordinate constable earlier this week.
The Incident
The shooting occurred on Sunday night near Chak 24/2-R. According to police reports, SHO Tariq Mahmood was out in the field following a road robbery incident.
He was rushed to the DHQ Teaching Hospital in Sahiwal immediately after the attack, where he underwent treatment for multiple bullet wounds before succumbing to his injuries.
Motive Behind the Attack
The investigation reveals a troubling breakdown of discipline within the ranks. The assailant, identified as Constable Abdullah, allegedly opened fire on his superior after a heated exchange.
The confrontation reportedly stemmed from the following:
* Dereliction of Duty: The SHO had discovered that Constable Abdullah was not present at his assigned picket on the Chak 24/2-R link road.
* Security Failure: The picket had been established specifically to intercept suspects involved in a recent robbery.
* The Altercation: When SHO Mahmood admonished the constable for his negligence and failure to perform his duties, Abdullah allegedly lost his temper and used his official weapon to shoot the officer.
Current Status
The police department has expressed deep grief over the loss of a dedicated officer. Legal proceedings against Constable Abdullah are underway, and authorities are looking into the lapse of conduct that led to such a violent internal dispute.
