University of Sahiwal Shifts to Online Classes Following Government Directives

SAHIWAL (Special Representative) – In response to recent provincial directives, the University of Sahiwal has transitioned its academic activities to an online format. The decision was finalized during a high-level meeting chaired by Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Javed Akhtar, aimed at ensuring educational continuity amidst shifting government policies.
The primary objective of the session was to review arrangements for online teaching during the current semester and to ensure strict compliance with official mandates from the Punjab Government and the Higher Education Department (HED).
Key Decisions and Proceedings
The meeting was attended by Registrar Syed Ghulam Ali Asghar, alongside various academic and administrative heads. Dr. Muhammad Hasnain, Director of Academics, provided a detailed briefing on the specific instructions received from the provincial authorities.
During the session, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Javed Akhtar outlined the following implementation strategy:
Mandatory Online Sessions: In accordance with government orders, all regular classes will be conducted via digital platforms.
Quality Oversight: The Directorate of Academics and respective Heads of Departments (HoDs) will strictly monitor online sessions to maintain academic standards.
On-Campus Exams: Despite the shift in teaching, Midterm Examinations will remain as scheduled and will be conducted physically on the university campus following the academic calendar.
Support for Faculty and Digital Integration
To facilitate a smooth transition, the university administration has committed to providing necessary digital platforms and high-speed internet facilities for both permanent and visiting faculty. The Vice-Chancellor personally addressed visiting faculty members, encouraging them to adopt innovative and effective digital teaching methodologies.
Following the main meeting, Dr. Muhammad Ayub, Chairperson of the Computer Science Department, held specialized sessions with his faculty to optimize the use of technology for an enhanced learning experience.
“Our top priority is to provide uninterrupted, quality education while ensuring academic integrity so that our students’ precious time is not wasted,” stated Vice-Chancellor Dr. Javed Akhtar.
The meeting concluded with a special prayer led by the Vice-Chancellor for the continued progress of the university and the stability of the education system.
