Sahiwal DC Orders Swift Water Drainage After Heavy Rain

SAHIWAL (News Reporter) – To manage the aftermath of recent heavy rains, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Captain (R) Samiullah Farooq, accompanied by MD WASA Tanveer Qaiser, conducted an extensive tour of various parts of the city to oversee drainage operations.
The visit was aimed at personally inspecting the arrangements made for rainwater disposal and evaluating the performance of field staff currently deployed across the district.
Inspection of Major Thoroughfares and Low-Lying Areas
The Deputy Commissioner visited key highways, busy intersections, and particularly the low-lying areas most prone to waterlogging. During the inspection, he reviewed:
The operational status of WASA machinery.
The working capacity of disposal stations.
The attendance and alertness of the field staff.
Strict Directives for the Administration
While speaking to the officers and field teams on-site, DC Samiullah Farooq issued the following mandatory instructions:
Immediate Drainage: All available resources and machinery must be utilized to ensure the swift removal of water from roads.
Traffic Flow: Drainage operations must be expedited to ensure that public movement and the flow of traffic remain uninterrupted.
Constant Monitoring: Teams are to remain on high alert 24/7 to handle any emergency situations, with continuous supervision of the ongoing work.

During the visit, MD WASA Tanveer Qaiser briefed the Deputy Commissioner on the strategic deployment of special drainage teams throughout the city.
He assured the DC that extra personnel have been stationed at critical points and that all machinery is fully functional to clear the city in the shortest possible time.
The Deputy Commissioner concluded by directing WASA officials to address public complaints immediately, warning that any negligence in duty would result in strict disciplinary action.
