Sahiwal: Anti-Corruption Team Catches Naib Tehsildar’s Reader Red-Handed

SAHIWAL (Bureau Report): As part of the ongoing crackdown against corrupt elements, the Punjab Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) has achieved a significant breakthrough. Under the leadership of Director General ACE Punjab, Sohail Zafar Chattha, and Regional Director Sahiwal, Basharat Nabi, a successful raid led to the arrest of a Naib Tehsildar’s reader while accepting a bribe.
Details of the Operation
According to an ACE spokesperson, Circle Officer Headquarters Muhammad Sohaib Qaisar conducted a meticulously planned raid under the supervision of a Magistrate. During the operation, Muhammad Sarfraz, the reader to Naib Tehsildar Rana Hayat, was caught in the act of receiving bribe money from a local citizen.

The arrest followed a complaint lodged by a citizen named Abdul Basit. Key details of the case include:
The Motive: The accused demanded a bribe to process a ‘Wanda’ (land partition) case.
The Amount: The official had already extorted 30,000 PKR from the citizen. He was apprehended while pocketing the remaining 15,000 PKR.
The Evidence: The raiding team recovered marked currency notes from the suspect’s possession on the spot.
Legal Action
ACE Sahiwal has registered a formal case against Muhammad Sarfraz and initiated further investigations. Authorities reiterated their commitment to a zero-tolerance policy, stating that no leniency will be shown to officials involved in harassing the public or demanding kickbacks in government offices.
