National Tennis Tournament in Sahiwal Welcomed: Aisam-ul-Haq Praises Commissioner

In a major boost for regional sports, Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF) President and world-renowned tennis star Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi, alongside Punjab Lawn Tennis Association (PLTA) Senior Executive Vice President Bashir Malik, have warmly welcomed the organizing of national-level tennis competitions in Sahiwal. Both officials highly praised Commissioner Sahiwal Division, Dr. Asif Tufail, for his exceptional efforts in making the event a reality.

The sports dignitaries expressed these views in a joint video message released in connection with the upcoming “Sahiwal National Junior Ranking Tennis Tournament 2026.”

A Major Milestone for Tennis Promotion

In his message, PTF President Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi stated:

“Under the patronage and special cooperation of Commissioner Sahiwal Dr. Asif Tufail, national junior ranking and senior national-level tennis competitions are being organized in Sahiwal for the very first time from June 2 to June 7. This tournament will prove to be a significant milestone for the promotion of tennis in this region.”

Qureshi also paid tribute to Bashir Malik for his continuous services in advancing the sport of tennis across Punjab, while expressing his immense joy and excitement about visiting Sahiwal for the mega event.

A Golden Opportunity for Young Athletes

Speaking on the occasion, PLTA Senior Executive Vice President Bashir Malik remarked that a national-level tennis tournament is returning to Sahiwal after a long hiatus. He credited this achievement entirely to the keen interest and deep love for sports demonstrated by Commissioner Dr. Asif Tufail.

Malik added that large-scale events like this not only provide a prime platform for young athletes to showcase their hidden talent but also play a pivotal role in popularizing tennis at the grassroots level.
