BASIRPUR (Malik Niaz Ahmad, Okara News) – A fierce encounter between police and outlaws took place at Bhutta Chowk, Basirpur, resulting in the arrest of a dangerous criminal in injured condition, while three of his accomplices managed to flee the scene.
The Incident
According to details, four armed dacoits intercepted a local citizen at gunpoint and snatched his motorcycle, cash, and wallet. Upon receiving the emergency call, the SHO Basirpur and his team exhibited immense bravery by immediately chasing the suspects.
The Encounter
As the police closed in, the dacoits opened indiscriminate fire to evade arrest. During the exchange of fire, one dacoit was wounded—reportedly by the firing of his own accomplices—while the remaining three suspects took advantage of the chaos and escaped.

The arrested dacoit has been identified as Majid. Preliminary investigations reveal that he is a hardened criminal and a record-holder wanted in at least 22 cases, including:

The police recovered the snatched motorcycle, the stolen cash, and illegal weaponry from his possession.

The injured suspect has been shifted to the hospital under police custody. The Basirpur police have launched a massive manhunt and cordoned off the surrounding areas to apprehend the three fleeing accomplices.
