Major Educational Reforms in Sahiwal: DPS Campuses Granted Administrative Autonomy

SAHIWAL (Bureau Report) – In a significant move to modernize the educational framework and ensure transparency, Commissioner Sahiwal Division and Chairman of the Sahiwal Educational Trust, Dr. Asif Tufail, has approved a series of revolutionary reforms for the Divisional Public School (DPS) system.
Decentralization and New Appointments
Presiding over the 105th meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Sahiwal Educational Trust, Dr. Asif Tufail announced that all DPS campuses will now operate with administrative autonomy.
Under this new policy:
Independent Leadership: Separate Principals will be appointed for the Main Campus, Ravi Campus, Chichawatni Campus, and Cambridge Campus.
Targeted Performance: The initiative aims to eliminate administrative bottlenecks and allow each campus to focus on its specific academic and logistical needs.
Recognition of Excellence
The Board lauded the exceptional performance of Momena Izad, Vice Principal of the Cambridge School. In recognition of her success in achieving record enrollments and outstanding academic results within just three years, the Board approved a 3-year extension of her contract.
Enhancing Academic Standards
To maintain a high competitive edge, the Commissioner issued directives to implement rigorous monitoring tools:
Performance Indicators: The development of a framework to track and evaluate teacher performance is to be completed immediately.
Academic Council: A dedicated council comprising expert teachers will be established to oversee syllabus improvements and maintain institutional discipline.
“For the holistic development of students, academic education alone is not enough. We must also keep our sports fields vibrant.”
— Dr. Asif Tufail, Commissioner Sahiwal
