Sahiwal Farmers Receive Free Tractors Under CM’s “Grow More Wheat” Campaign

SAHIWAL – In a major boost to the local agricultural sector, a ceremony was held at the District Council Hall Sahiwal to distribute free tractors to local farmers. The initiative is part of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s “Grow More Wheat Campaign 2024-25,” aimed at modernizing farming practices and ensuring food security.

The event was graced by Members of the Provincial Assembly (MPAs) Malik Qasim Nadeem, Muhammad Arshad Malik, and Rana Riaz Ahmed, who attended as chief guests.

Empowering the Farming Community

Addressing the gathering, MPA Malik Qasim Nadeem highlighted that the provision of free machinery is a “guarantee of prosperity” for the province’s growers. He noted that the Punjab government is currently implementing a multi-pronged welfare strategy, which includes:

  • The distribution of free tractors.

  • The issuance of Kisan Cards for subsidized inputs.

  • The establishment of Agri Malls to streamline the supply chain.

MPA Muhammad Arshad Malik characterized the gift from Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz as a historic first for the province. He urged the lucky winners to support small-scale farmers in their neighborhoods, ensuring the machinery benefits the wider community.

Transparency and Distribution Details

Director of Agriculture, Chaudhry Shehbaz Akhtar, provided a breakdown of the selection process, praising the Agriculture Department Sahiwal for maintaining complete transparency.

According to officials, the department received a total of 210 applications. From this pool, 8 fortunate farmers were selected via a lucky draw.

A large number of local farmers also attended to witness the draw.

The recipients expressed their gratitude to the Punjab government, noting that such initiatives significantly reduce the cost of production and strengthen the overall agricultural economy.
