Commissioner Sahiwal Meets Kissan Ittehad Delegation

SAHIWAL – Commissioner Sahiwal Division, Dr. Asif Tufail, met with a delegation of the Kissan Ittehad today to discuss the pressing challenges faced by the agricultural community in the region. The delegation highlighted critical shortages and supply chain issues regarding fertilizers, high-quality seeds, and the availability of irrigation water.

Addressing Agricultural Grievances

During the meeting, the farmers’ representatives briefed the Commissioner on the difficulties hindering their productivity. Dr. Asif Tufail listened to these concerns and reassured the delegation that the Punjab Government is taking “serious and practical steps” for the welfare of farmers.

The Commissioner issued a firm assurance that:

  • Timely Supply: The provision of fertilizers and quality seeds will be strictly monitored to prevent shortages.

  • Water Rights: Necessary measures will be taken to ensure the equitable distribution of irrigation water for all farmlands.

  • Administrative Support: The district administration remains fully committed to standing by the farming community.

New Import-Export Strategy for Agricultural Goods

Dr. Asif Tufail further revealed that the Government of Pakistan is currently drafting a comprehensive strategy for the import and export of agricultural commodities. This initiative is expected to:

  1. Provide direct financial benefits to local farmers.

  2. Stabilize the agricultural sector by opening new market avenues.

  3. Reduce the influence of exploitative middlemen.

“The prosperity of Pakistan is tied to the prosperity of our farmers. Every legitimate issue raised by the Kissan Ittehad will be resolved on a priority basis,” said Dr. Asif Tufail.

Collaborative Effort

The meeting was also attended by senior officers from the Sahiwal Agriculture Department, who were directed by the Commissioner to maintain close coordination with the farmers to address field-level problems immediately. The delegation thanked the Commissioner for his proactive approach and his commitment to the agricultural reform agenda of the Chief Minister of Punjab.
