Saba Faisal’s Statement on Wedding Dress Choices Sparks Debate on Social Media

Renowned actress Saba Faisal, a prominent figure in the Pakistani showbiz industry, has caused a stir on social media with her recent comments about wedding dress choices for daughters-in-law. The actress shared her views during an appearance as a guest on a private TV channel’s talk show, where she touched on various topics, including family dynamics and traditions surrounding marriage.
Faisal’s statement focused on the practice of mothers-in-law allowing their daughters-in-law to select their wedding outfits based on personal preference. The actress expressed strong disagreement with this trend, calling it a “mistake” by modern-day mothers.
“I do not agree with the idea that mothers-in-law let daughters-in-law choose their wedding clothes entirely based on their own likes,” Faisal remarked. “The biggest mistake today’s mothers of grooms make is giving the bride the freedom to pick her own wedding dress.”
The veteran actress explained that by giving brides this kind of freedom, mothers-in-law are inadvertently setting a precedent that could lead to a lack of respect for family traditions. She emphasized that while it’s understandable for a bride to wear clothes she feels comfortable in, the absence of any family involvement can create distance between the bride and her in-laws.
She further explained, “When a girl is given the authority from the beginning to wear what she wants, she will do just that. She’ll wear what makes her happy, often disregarding the preferences of her mother-in-law and sisters-in-law.”
In contrast, Saba Faisal shared her own experience from her earlier years, stating that in her time, newlywed brides wore outfits provided by their in-laws as a tradition. “We didn’t have the freedom to choose our wedding clothes back then; we wore what was given to us by our in-laws, and I followed this tradition too,” she recalled.
Faisal’s statement has sparked mixed reactions on social media and among her viewers. While some agree with her viewpoint, citing the importance of tradition and family unity, others argue that allowing brides to choose their wedding attire is a matter of personal preference and empowerment.
As the discussion unfolds, many are questioning how evolving societal norms are influencing family customs and expectations surrounding weddings, while others continue to defend the idea of giving brides more autonomy in their wedding choices.
This ongoing debate underscores a wider conversation about the balance between tradition and modernity, and how family dynamics are constantly evolving in today’s world.
