Sahiwal: Woman Remanded to Police Custody Following Brutal Acid Attack

SAHIWAL – A Special Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) has granted a three-day physical remand for a woman accused of disfiguring a 32-year-old man in a premeditated acid attack.

Special Judge Ziaullah Khan presided over the hearing, handing the primary suspect, Ayesha, over to the Fatah Sher police for interrogation. The court has directed authorities to produce her again on July 29.

Details of the Incident

The horrific assault took place in the early hours of July 20, at approximately 4:30 AM, in Muslim Bin Aqeel Colony. The victim, identified as Shahrukh (32), was reportedly sleeping near the window of his home’s guest room when the attack occurred.

According to police reports, Ayesha, allegedly assisted by her mother-in-law, Shaheen Guddo, and an unidentified accomplice, doused Shahrukh with acid through the window. The chemical caused severe burns across the victim’s face and entire body. He remains in critical condition at a local hospital.

Motive: Obsession and Interference

Investigations suggest the attack was the culmination of long-standing resentment. Sources close to the family reveal a pattern of interference:

  • Sabotaged Engagements: Whenever Shahrukh’s parents attempted to arrange his marriage, Ayesha would allegedly intervene to break off the proposals.

  • Family Conflicts: Ayesha’s mother-in-law, Shaheen Guddo, had reportedly been fueling tensions by leveling public allegations against Ayesha regarding her relationship with the victim.

  • The Breaking Point: In a final attempt to secure his future, Shahrukh’s family had secretly organized a wedding ceremony at a local hall. Upon discovering the secret plans, Ayesha allegedly orchestrated the attack in a fit of rage.
