Sahiwal: Social Welfare Dept Distributes Assistive Devices to 191 Persons with Disabilities

SAHIWAL (Staff Reporter) – Following the welfare vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif and the special directives of Provincial Minister for Social Welfare and Bait-ul-Maal, Sohail Shaukat Butt, a prestigious ceremony was held to distribute assistive devices among persons with disabilities (PWDs).
Empowering the Specially-Abled
During the ceremony organized by the Department of Social Welfare and Bait-ul-Maal Sahiwal, a total of 191 individuals from across the district were provided with essential equipment to improve their mobility and quality of life. The distribution included:
110 Wheelchairs
65 White Canes (for the visually impaired)
11 Walking Frames
05 Hearing Aids
Government’s Revolutionary Initiatives
The Chief Guest of the event, Member of the Punjab Assembly (MPA) Mohammad Arshad Malik, addressed the participants, stating that providing assistive devices is a revolutionary and commendable step by the Punjab government.
“Under the leadership of CM Maryam Nawaz Sharif, this mission of public service will continue. All necessary funds required for the rehabilitation of specially-abled persons will be provided on priority,” Malik remarked. He expressed his gratitude to the Chief Minister and Provincial Minister Sohail Shaukat Butt for their dedicated efforts.

Deputy Director of Social Welfare, Mohammad Abbas Chohan, highlighted that welfare projects like the Dhee Rani Program, Himmat Card, and the distribution of assistive devices are unprecedented. He emphasized that the department is working tirelessly to ensure that the rights of deserving individuals reach their doorsteps.
