SAHIWAL (Staff Reporter) – Commissioner Sahiwal Division Dr. Asif Tufail conducted a surprise inspection of the Sahiwal Teaching Hospital on Monday to review the quality of healthcare services and administrative efficiency. During the visit, the Commissioner met with doctors, nurses, and paramedical staff to assess the operational challenges and service delivery standards.
Accompanying the Commissioner were Additional Commissioner Coordination Dr. Saifullah Bhatti, Principal of Sahiwal Medical College Dr. Muhammad Akhtar, and Medical Superintendent (MS) of Sahiwal Teaching Hospital Dr. Muhammad Khalid Khan.
Commitment to Public Service
Addressing the hospital administration, Commissioner Dr. Asif Tufail emphasized that duty must be performed with sincerity, responsibility, and strict adherence to official timings. He noted that the overall maintenance and reputation of the hospital rest in the hands of the medical staff.
“The Government of Punjab is spending billions of rupees on the health sector. It is now the responsibility of the hospital administration and medical staff to ensure the transparent and effective use of these resources for the best possible care of patients,” the Commissioner stated.
He particularly urged the young medical staff to adopt a professional attitude, discipline, and hard work as their core values while serving the public.
Zero Tolerance for Poor Sanitation
During his inspection of various wards, Dr. Asif Tufail expressed dissatisfaction with certain aspects of the facility’s hygiene. He issued a stern warning regarding the cleanliness system, directing the management to strictly follow established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
The Commissioner made it clear that:
Sanitation standards must be upgraded immediately.
A heavy fine will be imposed on the private contractor if the cleanliness SOPs are not strictly implemented.
Patient care and a sterile environment are non-negotiable priorities for the division.
The visit is part of a broader monitoring initiative by the divisional administration to ensure that government-funded healthcare facilities provide relief to common citizens without any hurdles.
