Sahiwal: 12 Technical College Students Booked for Assaulting Shopkeeper and Son

SAHIWAL – The City Police have registered a case against 12 students of a local technical college after they brutally assaulted a grocery store owner and his son near Jahaz Ground. The attack was reportedly a retaliation for being stopped from harassing female passersby.
The Incident
According to reports, the shopkeeper, Mohammad Sharif, along with other local residents, had confronted a group of students two days prior. The students had allegedly been loitering outside the shops and harassing female students and women walking in the area.
On Saturday, the situation escalated when the students returned in a fit of rage. They stormed Sharif’s shop, armed with:
Lathis (wooden batons)
Bamboo sticks
Stones
The mob launched a violent attack on Mohammad Sharif and his son, Mohammad Ali, inflicting serious injuries. The assailants also vandalized the shop’s furniture and blocked Old Harappa Road, causing a significant disruption to traffic and public order.
Police Action and Arrests
Following the violent outbreak, City Police moved swiftly to contain the situation and registered a formal case against 12 individuals.
Current Status: Four primary suspects have already been taken into custody.

Osama Shikari
Ashfaq Jatt
Police are currently conducting raids to apprehend the remaining eight suspects involved in the assault and rioting. Local residents have expressed deep concern over the incident, calling for stricter monitoring of student conduct in commercial areas to ensure the safety of women and shopkeepers alike.
