Sahiwal Food Authority Issues 2025 Performance Report: 80 Tons of Substandard Food Discarded

SAHIWAL – Under the strategic leadership of Director General Punjab Food Authority (PFA), Muhammad Asim Javed, the Sahiwal division has successfully thwarted the distribution of over 80 tons of fake, unhygienic, and hazardous food items during the year 2025.

Major Crackdown on Adulteration Networks

The Food Safety Teams, led by Deputy Director (Operations) Ejaz Nawaz, maintained a rigorous field presence throughout the year, conducting a total of 27,899 inspections. These operations targeted major networks involved in the adulteration of milk, meat, and khoya.

As a result of these inspections:

  • 66 FIRs were registered against individuals involved in serious food fraud.

  • 115 production units were sealed due to severe safety violations.

  • Fines exceeding 35 million PKR were imposed on violators.

  • 10,803 food businesses were served with improvement notices to upgrade their hygiene standards.

Record Seizures and Disposal

The authority ensured that hazardous materials were removed from the supply chain and disposed of according to safety protocols. The seized items included:

In addition to food items, the teams confiscated 6,975 kg of substandard dry powder, 597 kg of fake packaging material, 103 machines/tools, and 4 vehicles used in the transport of adulterated goods.

Zero Tolerance Policy

Officials stated that the year 2025 marked a historic success in the fight against the "adulteration mafia." By dismantling large-scale networks, the PFA has significantly reduced the risk of foodborne illnesses in the region.

DG Muhammad Asim Javed reaffirmed that the mission for food safety will continue with a zero-tolerance policy. He emphasized that the Punjab Food Authority will not rest until the adulteration mafia is completely eliminated from the province, ensuring every citizen has access to safe and healthy food.
