Sahiwal: Staged Kidnapping for a Motorcycle Uncovered by Police
SAHIWAL – The Sahiwal Ghalla Mandi Police and the Crime Control Department (CCD) have successfully recovered a young fridge mechanic who allegedly staged his own kidnapping to extort ransom money from his parents. The drama was brought to an end after a rigorous four-day investigation.
The Disappearance
The incident began on March 24, when Muzammil Hussain, a resident of Rehman Town, Sahiwal, left his home. He reportedly told his family he was heading out to repair a refrigerator following a phone call from a female client. When he failed to return, his family feared the worst.
The Ransom Demand
On March 27, the tension escalated when the family received messages from unknown numbers. The "kidnappers" demanded a staggering Rs. 2 million for Muzammil’s safe release.
Police Investigation and Recovery
District Police Officer (DPO) Faisal Mukhtar (Usman Tippu) briefed the media, stating that police utilized advanced tracking technology to locate the youth. Following a trace, the team recovered Muzammil safely from an area near Faisalabad.
The Motive: A New Bike
During the interrogation, the truth behind the disappearance came to light. It was revealed that:
-
Muzammil’s father, a retired police officer, had recently refused to buy him a new motorcycle.
-
Frustrated by the refusal, Muzammil orchestrated the kidnapping plot to trick his own parents into providing the funds.
The TikTok Connection
Police are also investigating the involvement of a Faisalabad-based TikTok star known as 'Sania.' Allegations suggest she may have played a role in the scheme or was allegedly extorting money from Muzammil’s brother during the ordeal.
Authorities have cautioned the public against such deceptive tactics, noting that staging a crime not only wastes state resources but also carries severe legal consequences. Further investigations into the facilitators of the plan are currently underway.
