Rising Crime Wave in Sahiwal: Citizens Deprived of Assets Worth Millions
SAHIWAL: A sharp increase in robberies and thefts has gripped the Sahiwal district, leaving citizens deprived of cash, gold, and livestock worth nearly 10 million rupees. While the police have registered eight FIRs and arrested two domestic workers on suspicion, most of the culprits remain at large.
According to details, burglars and thieves targeted several residences, outhouses (deras), and shops across different police jurisdictions, looting a collective sum of PKR 9,718,000. The surge in organized crime has sparked widespread fear and a sense of insecurity among the residents.
Breakdown of Major Incidents:

City Police Station (Nai Abadi): In one of the biggest heists, thieves broke into the house of a woman named Sajida Parveen and made off with gold jewelry valued at 6 million rupees.

Lalazar Colony (Chak 40/12-L): The sister of a local landlord, Mudassar Abbas, was targeted. Burglars looted gold ornaments, cash, and expensive watches worth 1.59 million rupees.

Chak 38/14-L & Chak 8/14-L: Livestock theft continues to plague rural areas. Landlord Mohammad Irfan lost cattle and goats worth 850,000 rupees, while retired teacher Mohammad Siddique Khalid reported the theft of four sacrificial animals worth 375,000 rupees.

Chak 53 GD: A shopkeeper, Hameed Ahmed, reported that thieves broke his shop's locks and stole cash, ghee, soap, and other groceries worth 320,000 rupees.

Other Thefts: Incidents were also reported in Farid Town (Rafique Garden) where PKR 200,000 was stolen from Ms. Khadija’s house, and in Ghalla Mandi, where PKR 115,000 was taken from Meraj Bibi’s residence. Additionally, in Chak 92/12-L, solar inverters and equipment worth 2.5 lakh rupees were stolen from Muzammil Hussain’s farmhouse.
Police Action and Breakthroughs:
Sahiwal Police have registered eight separate cases at City, Farid Town, Ghalla Mandi, Noor Shah, Sadar Chichawatni, Kassowal, and Shah Kot police stations.
In a significant development, police have detained two women working as domestic helpers on grounds of suspicion:

Fatima: A former domestic worker, currently in the custody of City Police.

Nazia: A domestic helper, detained by Farid Town Police for interrogation.
Police officials stated that special teams have been formed to track down the gangs involved in these burglaries. However, no further arrests have been made so far. The affected citizens have appealed to higher authorities for better protection and the immediate recovery of their looted belongings.
