Sahiwal Crackdown: 28 Housing Schemes Declared Illegal; Sale and Purchase Banned

SAHIWAL – Following the directives of Commissioner Sahiwal, Dr. Asif Tufail, the district administration has launched a major crackdown, declaring 28 housing schemes across the district illegal. A formal ban has been imposed on the sale and purchase of plots within these projects to protect citizens from financial loss.

Failure to Meet Legal Requirements

Deputy Commissioner Samiullah Farooq informed the media that all 28 targeted schemes fall under the jurisdiction of the Sahiwal District Council. Most of these private projects were initiated between 2015 and 2025, yet they show negligible progress in infrastructure development.

Under provincial regulations, a housing scheme must complete at least 20% of its development work to maintain legal standing. The Deputy Commissioner noted that:

  • Most of the blacklisted schemes fall far below the 20% development threshold.

  • Only one scheme in the district has achieved 90% completion.

  • These projects lack the mandatory No Objection Certificates (NOCs) and essential legal documentation.

Official Warnings

District Planning Officer Javed Anwar Gondal stated that the owners of these schemes were served multiple notices over the past five to six months. Due to their persistent failure to meet legal requirements, the administration has now moved forward with strict enforcement actions.

Public Advisory: The administration strongly advises citizens to refrain from investing their hard-earned money in these unauthorized schemes. Always verify the NOC status of a project with the District Council before making any financial commitments.
